Fil-American Valorant player Zachary 'zekken' Patrone proudly showcased his Filipino heritage on the world stage by using the character Neon during Valorant Champions 2024 in Seoul, South Korea. Zekken played a crucial role in leading Sentinels to a dominant 2-0 victory over DRX, the last remaining Pacific team, racking up an impressive 54 kills with the Filipino character.
"I was really feeling Filipino today, so I played the Filipino character," Zekken said during a post-match interview streamed by Valo2Asia.
According to vlr.gg, Zekken had the highest average combat score of 319 among all players. Despite a rough start in the group stages, where they lost to Shanghai Masters champions Gen.G, Sentinels made a strong comeback through the elimination bracket to secure a spot in the playoffs.
Sentinels are set to face China's EDward Gaming on Saturday as they continue their quest in the tournament.
