A OFW working as a teacher in Mandalay, Myanmar was confirmed dead in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake on March 28, 2025. His wife Kat Cruz-Aragon identified him as Francis Aragon, a former teacher at the Vicente Madrigal Integrated School in Binangonan, Rizal.
According to Kat, her husband's body was found in the collapsed Sky Villa building, and was identified based on body marks, belongings, and passport. Francis' body has been cremated and the ashes were taken to the Philippine Embassy in Yangon.
A few hours before the earthquake, Kat spoke to Francis. “It was just a normal morning conversation, when he had a connection, he would call,” she said. They have two children, ages 2 and 4, but she has not yet told the children about their father's death.
Francis had only been working in Myanmar for 10 months before the tragedy. They had planned to save up money and be with the whole family abroad. Kat recalled their 17 years as a couple, and she was grateful that her husband's body was found.
Francis left behind fond memories as a happy father and loving husband. “I know you are in good health. You can expect me to take care of our children. We love you very much,” said Kat.
