The search continues for couple Alexis Gale and Edsil Jess Adalid, who went missing after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Mandalay, Myanmar on March 28, 2025. In a video by Bayan Patroller Rojan Talita, he can be seen calling the couple's names in front of the collapsed Sky Villa condominium, where they live. According to Rojan, he saw Edsil's brown jacket at the scene of the incident.
Edsil is a teacher at the Mandalay International School of Acumen, while Alexis is a friend of Rojan. They are among four Filipinos who are still missing after the earthquake. Some of Alexis' personal belongings, such as white sandals, a blue dress, and a computer chair, were found near the collapsed building.
Rojan's story is that he was eating lunch with other Filipino teachers when the earthquake struck at around 12:40 PM. They immediately ran to the open field for safety, and he saw the walls and doors of their school collapse. Many students and teachers panicked, especially those who had never experienced such a strong earthquake before.
For now, the school administration has temporarily housed Rojan and other teachers inside the school. Their school has solar panels so they have electricity, food, water, and WiFi. The Filipino community is also helping by providing clothing and other necessities for those affected by the earthquake.
Despite the situation, Rojan has no plans to return home because he is the breadwinner of his family in Dumaguete City. Meanwhile, the search for the Adalid couple continues as their friends and family hope that they are still safe.
