A two-seater Cessna aircraft crashed in Lingayen, Pangasinan this Sunday morning, March 30, prompting a rapid response from emergency teams and local authorities.
According to witnesses, there were two people on board the plane when it crashed. They were immediately taken to the Lingayen District Hospital, but both were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
The Lingayen Police confirmed that they received a report from an airport security guard about the plane crash. The aircraft was identified as a Cessna and crashed in Barangay Libsong East, Lingayen while conducting a touch-and-go training exercise.
A touch-and-go maneuver is a practice in which an airplane landes and immediately takes off again without stopping. Pilots typically do this to improve their landing and takeoff skills.
Authorities are now investigating whether the cause of the crash was due to engine problems, pilot error, or bad weather.
The victims were identified as a 32-year-old pilot and a 25-year-old student pilot. Their names have not been released pending official notification of their families.
