It's official! Netflix has confirmed the upcoming live-action series of Scooby-Doo. The new show will have 8 episodes and will reveal how the Mystery Inc. team came together with their favorite dog, Scooby-Doo. The project was first reported on April 2024 and has now been approved for production. According to Variety, Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg will serve as writers and showrunners, along with other executive producers from Berlanti Productions and WBTV.
According to Peter Friedlander, Netflix's vice president of scripted series, they want to bring Scooby-Doo to a new generation of viewers while also entertaining old fans. Based on the official synopsis, the story will follow Shaggy and Daphne on their last summer at camp, where they become involved in a mystery involving a missing Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural murder. Together with Velma and Freddy, they will try to solve the mystery while uncovering their secrets.
