A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Thailand and Myanmar Friday afternoon, authorities said. It caused a tall building in Bangkok to collapse while it was under construction.
According to Bangkok police, the collapse occurred near Chatuchak Market, but there is no information yet on how many people were inside the building when it happened.
After the earthquake, a 6.4 magnitude aftershock was felt, so people were advised to stay outside buildings.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey and Germany's GFZ center for geosciences, the earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) and its epicenter was in Myanmar.
