
A Quezon City police officer was charged with murder, frustrated murder, and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms Law and Omnibus Election Code after he shot a van driver in Barangay Old Balara on March 20. The incident began with a traffic altercation that ended in a shooting.
According to Police Maj. Don Don M. Llapitan of Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU), the policeman was identified as PEMS Randy Enano Tuzon, 48, a resident of Barangay Kaligayahan, Quezon City. He is assigned to Batasan Police Station 6. Based on the investigation, Ronnie Casero Borromeo, 42, and Reynaldo Hagos, 51, were driving their Mitsubishi L300 in Tandang Sora Avenue around 6:30 PM when L300 van by Tuzon almost collided with them.
As a result, Tuzon got out of his vehicle and a heated argument ensued between him and the two men. During the altercation, Borromeo allegedly hit Tuzon with a iron pipe, prompting the police to draw their guns and open fire on the victims.
Borromeo suffered multiple bullet wounds and was immediately rushed to the Diliman Hospital, but died two hours later. Hagos was hit in the hip and thigh and is currently being treated at the East Avenue Medical Center. Meanwhile, Tuzon surrendered immediately to the authorities after the incident.
