Members of Manibela arrived early at Caruncho Avenue, Pasig City on Tuesday to continue their transport strike. Carrying placards with the message "No to Jeepney Phaseout", they began the program at around 8:00 AM. According to the members, they are ready to stay on the streets to fight for their livelihoods against jeepney consolidation and phaseout.
According to Jose Mamungay, a driver and operator, the cost of joining the consolidation is very high. Stella Delas Alas, the jeepney driver's wife, stressed that they are not against modernization but want to maintain their property. Racquel Samarita, also the jeepney driver's wife, added, "We will fight to the death! Fight, Manibela!"
Despite the transport strike, the LTFRB said that it did not disrupt public transportation. In Pasig, there were almost no stranded commuters. According to Angelu Bonifacio, a passenger, "It's also fast, less than 30 minutes." The same was said by JC Saquiton, who also had no difficulty boarding.
