
The body of a 23-year-old Slovakian woman was found inside an abandoned hotel on Boracay Island on Wednesday, March 12.
Lieutenant Colonel Mar Joseph Ravelo, chief of Malay town police, identified the victim as Michaela Mickova, who was reported missing a day before being found.
Mickova's body was found in a chapel at the abandoned Pearl of the Pacific Hotel in Sitio Piaungon, Barangay Balabag.
According to the investigation, the victim was naked and showed signs of abuse. She was lying on the floor with traces of blood.
His body was placed at a mortuary in mainland Malay for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of his death.
This incident has raised concerns about the security of Boracay, a popular tourist destination.
TheFederation of Women’s Associations in Boracay and Malay (Fewaboma) is calling on authorities to ensure that the victim gets justice and to maintain Boracay as a safe place for women.
