A maritime intern was found dead after falling from a boat in Zamboanga City.
The body of 23-year-old Michael Totesona Malanda was found on March 5 on the beach of Barangay Patalon, a few kilometers from Barangay Sinunuc, where the inter-island vessel he worked on was docked.
According to friends and officials, Malanda is fromPuerto Princesa City, Palawan and is temporarily living in Zamboanga City while interning as a maritime service trainee on an inter-island vessel.
Based on radio reports on March 7, officials said he fell from the boat while trying to transfer to another boat using a ramp. His colleagues tried to search for him but were not immediately able to find him.
On March 7, his body was found on the beach of Barangay Patalon. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
