The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) has confirmed the closure of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Makati after it was attacked on Thursday.
According to PAOCC Executive Director Usec. Gilbert Cruz, the building they raided was very large, with seven floors and many rooms filled with computers. He added that it appeared that its operations were still active because of the cold air conditioning on some floors when the authorities arrived.
Officials expected to find approximately 600 Filipinos and foreigners inside the building. But despite their raid, they found no one in the area.
Cruz said that this POGO hub will definitely be closed. According to him, authorities already have records of who runs the operation.
"We now know who owns the business, so we will make sure it is completely shut down," Cruz said. They are also working with the Makati City licensing office to ensure that such POGO hubs are completely shut down.
