President Marcos promised to fight against an alleged "disturbing" plot by Vice President Sara Duterte to have him killed. In his statement, he criticized the ally-turned-critic for using "chicheria stories" to evade questions regarding the alleged misuse of confidential funds.
According to Marcos, legitimate questions from the Senate and Congress regarding the use of funds from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) should be answered directly. He also mentioned the need for all Filipinos to respect the law.
He stated, “The truth should not be silenced.” He also criticized the use of snack brand names as fake signatures on receipts submitted by the OVP to state auditors.
Meanwhile, the House approved Resolution No. 2092, expressing support for Marcos and Speaker Martin Romualdez against threats to the democratic government.
The conflict arose when lawmakers scrutinized the confidential funds of the OVP, resulting in Duterte's resignation as DepEd Secretary and subsequent tensions between their camps. In the latest incident, Duterte stated that she had considered having Marcos, the First Lady, and Romualdez killed.
Duterte responded to the allegations, stating that her remarks were "maliciously taken out of context." She challenged the National Security Council to provide documentation regarding their decision to make her statements a national security issue. She also requested that all officials, including Marcos, undergo drug tests as a demonstration of their sobriety and honesty to the public.
Duterte added that she is being used as a cover by the government for issues of corruption and anomalies. She stated that she is willing to undergo psychological and drug tests if Marcos agrees to do the same.
