A 23-year-old rider from Meycauayan, Bulacan died after his motorcycle skidded and was run over by a 16-wheeler truck on Aguinaldo Highway, Dasmariñas, Cavite, this Sunday morning.
According to Police Master Sergeant Richard Domingo of the Dasmariñas Police, the victim was on his way to Tagaytay to meet his co-workers. He said he was not on board when the accident happened.
Based on the investigation, the victim's motorcycle, a Honda Click, collided with a stopped Yamaha motorcycle due to the traffic light. Both motorcycles hit the road, and at the time the 16-wheeler truck was coming, it did not stop at the stoplight, causing the rider to be run over.
The CCTV footage shows the truck speeding before it ran over the victim, who died instantly due to the incident.
According to the truck driver, he did not realize what happened because he was focused on the accompanying trucks in the convoy. The driver was going from Novaliches, Quezon City to Calaca, Batangas to get iron.
The truck driver is now in jail and will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to properties.
