Current and Movement of Cyclone Julian
As of Wednesday morning, Typhoon Julian was slowly moving toward Taiwan. Signal No. remains. 1 in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, northwestern Cagayan, and northern and western Ilocos Norte.
As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, the typhoon was located 265 kilometers west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, outside the Philippine area of responsibility. It has winds reaching 165 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching 205 kilometers per hour.
Expect moderate to heavy rains and strong winds in Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
Julian gradually weakens due to the effect of dry air and cold ocean temperatures as it moves slowly. It is expected to re-enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) later this evening and may make landfall in southwestern Taiwan.
As the storm interacts with the mountains, it is expected to weaken further and have unpredictable movements.
The storm is likely to exit PAR through the Taiwan Strait on Friday night or Saturday morning and may eventually weaken into a low-pressure area.
