A 29-year-old man was injured after being grabbed by a crocodile inside a cage at the Kabug Mangrove Park and Wetlands in Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay, this morning. The video shows the crocodile pushing the man into the water and throwing him. People around were shocked and screamed at what they saw.
According to police, the man entered the cage and approached the crocodile. He expected that he would be safe and that the crocodile would be a toy. “He was walking around the area when he saw the crocodile, he expected it to be just a toy. He went to the crocodile's fence, he went inside, then he was bitten,” said PSSgt. Joel Sajolga of Siay MPS.
With the help of the police, municipal disaster rescue team, and the owner of the crocodile, the man was rescued. He was rushed to the hospital and sustained injuries to his leg and shoulder. “He is okay and was rushed to the hospital earlier,” said Jonalyn Vidad, a witness to the incident.
According to the police, there were guards at the park, but the man acted quickly to enter the crocodile's cage. The victim also allegedly has a mental disability, according to authorities.
