The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested a Japanese who was allegedly a member of the ‘Luffy Gang’ on Tuesday in Las Piñas City.
The suspect was identified as Takuya Hoshino, has an arrest warrant from the Tokyo Summary Court, and has been overstaying in the Philippines since 2019.
According to the BI, he has a case in Japan for theft, fraud, and other illegal acts. The ‘Luffy Gang’ is known for intimidation and impersonating police officers to prey on elderly Japanese people.
Hoshino is currently detained at the BI facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig. After this, he will be deported and blacklisted so that he cannot return to the Philippines.
