The Porsche 911 GT3 is now the fastest manual car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, after clocking a 6:56.294 lap time. Jörg Bergmeister, a Porsche brand ambassador, drove the car and beat the previous record by more 9.5 seconds, despite his opponent having a more powerful engine.
With the Weissach Package and 6-speed manual gearbox, the new GT3 outperformed the previous model with PDK transmission by more than 3.6 seconds. Even though the engine is the same 510 hp, the shorter gear ratio and improved suspension contribute to faster acceleration and cornering.
The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tires were used and tested on the 20.832-kilometer course in perfect spring weather. According to Bergmeister, the new chassis setup, which comes from the GT3 RS, gave him confidence even with bumps and curbs in the road.
