
A 58-year-old Chinese national was caught by police in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, around 11:30 PM on April 20. Riding a white SUV, he did not stop even when asked to stop by police, resulting in a chase. Police said the incident began after he collided with a jeepney in GMA, Cavite.
According to witness Renato, he was waiting for a booking near a fast food place when he saw the SUV speeding. He said that the police had already stopped it but it still fled and passed through Molino and Salawag. A few minutes later, the vehicle returned and the chase continued.
The suspect ran for 7 kilometers before crashing into the center island on Molino-Paliparan Road. Before that, he had also crashed into a Toyota Rush. According to Police Captain Michelle Bastawang, the driver was caught right there.
During the investigation, the driver was drunk and did not have a driver’s license. Only his passport was presented and the SUV belonged to his relative. He was also driving illegally.
No one was injured in the incident. The Chinese national promised to repair the damaged vehicles and property. He is currently in police custody and will be charged with Reckless Imprudence and violation of RA 10586 (Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Law).
