Stephen Curry was the key to the Golden State Warriors's 95-85 win over the Houston Rockets in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs. Curry finished with 31 points, including 5 three-pointers, and a few wild shots that got the bench buzzing.
New to the Warriors, Jimmy Butler also showed off his playoff debut for the team. He had 25 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. According to Coach Steve Kerr, he and Curry carried the team to victory.
The Warriors were down by just 23 points in the third quarter, but the Rockets didn't let up. They got within four points in the final 5 minutes. But Curry answered with a brutal three-pointer, then Moses Moody followed with a clutch shot to seal the win.
The Rockets are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2020. Alperen Sengun is their top scorer with 26 points, but VanVleet and Jalen Green have struggled, combining for 7 of 34 shooting. Their 3-point and free throw shooting are also poor.
Despite the win, Draymond Green said, “I feel like we can still get better.” Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is on Wednesday again in Houston, and the next battle will certainly be more intense.
