A priest in Cainta, Rizal has gone viral after he got angry while evicting palaspas vendors inside a church. In a 41-second video, the priest can be heard repeatedly saying: “Outside! Are you going to go out or not?”
According to the church story, the vendors were told several times properly and early that selling inside the church compound is prohibited, but some still did not comply. That's why the priest was overwhelmed, especially since they had been warned since morning. Someone also said that the priest was even preceded by a bad person, but this is not included in the video.
Netizens are divided in their opinions. Some said that the priest's tone seemed inhuman. But others understood the situation, saying that the priest was only human and that he should have reminded them several times before he was satisfied.
The St. Francis of Assisi Parish issued a statement, asking for an apology to those who were hurt or confused, especially since it happened on Palm Sunday. According to them, the video is incomplete and lacks context, so it should not be judged too quickly.
The church has asked that the sharing of the video be stopped to avoid chaos and disunity. Instead, pray for unity and peace. They say they are handling the situation internally, and are open to discussion and reconciliation with those affected.
