A tragic accident occurred in Barangay Alacaygan, Banate, Iloilo this Sunday, April 13, 2025, after a motorcycle crashed into and penetrated the wall of a house. The collision, which killed a motorcyclist, was captured on CCTV.
In a video posted by a netizen, one man can be seen throwing while the other is left on the wall with the motorcycle. According to Banate PNP, the two victims were supposed to be heading to Iloilo City from Estancia, but when they reached a curved part of the road, the driver lost control.
The victims were identified as Lenje Bersabal, 21 years old and a motorcycle driver, and Mark Alonday, also 21 years old. Both were not wearing helmets and were speeding when the accident occurred. They were immediately taken to the hospital, but Bersabal died during treatment. Alonday is safe but continuing to be treated.
Authorities said the cause of the accident was excessive speeding and lack of protective gear such as a helmet. This is a reminder to motorists to be careful especially on curvy roads.
The cost of damage to the house is estimated at ₱20,000. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
