A 59-year-old mother in Bengaluru, India has been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined ₱33,200 after she stabbed and killed her own 17-year-old daughter for lying about her exam results.
According to the report, Bhimaneni Padmini Rani said that her daughter Sahiti Shivapriya passed the exam and scored 95%, but the girl later admitted that she failed in one subject. The fight started when Sahiti allegedly blamed her mother, saying that she had no support from her.
Out of anger, Rani stabbed her son with a kitchen knife, but it bent so she took two knives to continue the crime. She also attempted suicide after the incident, but was immediately taken to the hospital.
After recovering, he was arrested and temporarily released on bail. According to Rani's testimony, she was embarrassed in front of her relatives because she had boasted that her son had passed and was about to go to the US to study.
Despite what happened, Rani still said that she loves her son, especially since he has been her only companion since her husband passed away in 2020. But she also admitted that she was hurt because her son did not take care of her after her knee surgery.
