Police have arrested the suspects in the brutal killing of cousin drivers of an SUV used for door-to-door service. The gunman was first arrested in Angono, Rizal, while the other was traced to Dasmariñas City, Cavite.
Salute to the Tagaytay City Police, especially the Intelligence Section, for the successful CCTV backtracking. They followed the footage from Tagaytay, Alfonso, Lemery, Lipa, Calamba, Santa Rosa to Angono to find the culprits.
The body of the first victim was previously recovered in Tagaytay City, while the second was found in the dense forest of Brgy. Buck Estate, Alfonso, Cavite. The SUV was discovered in San Pascual, Batangas a few days after the crime.
According to the surviving passenger, he was asleep during the trip when he was awakened by a gunshot. When he woke up, the gun was pointed at the driver. The suspects insisted that it was a holdup, and forced them to get out. He further stated that a third man got in to continue driving the SUV. At around 3 a.m., he was dropped off at a mall in Lipa, Batangas.
When he got home, he immediately went straight to the Mulanay Police to file a report. According to the investigation, the motive for the crime was carnapping, as the suspects allegedly targeted the SUV. The value of the SUV is estimated at ₱1.2 million.
