A man was arrested after taking a two-year-old child hostage at Bulungan Market, Barangay La Huerta, Parañaque City on Sunday, April 13, 2025. According to authorities, while the child was playing in the market, the man suddenly grabbed him with a knife. They walked for more than a kilometer, and it took an hour before the police were able to negotiate with the suspect.
The child's grandmother, Rossana Bantillan, was very worried when she learned that the man had taken her grandson. The child's father also did not know that his son had been taken. The knife carried by the suspect was a sharp pork butcher, so the residents were doubly afraid.
With the help of residents and police, the child was safely retrieved from the suspect. The man is currently facing charges of Serious Illegal Detention, Child Abuse, and Illegal Possession of Bladed Weapon.
According to Police Lieutenant Mardison Perie, the suspect is not known in the community and has no relationship with the child. The Parañaque Law Enforcement Team was able to provide quick and careful action to ensure the child's safety.
