A man was run over by his father's casket after the platform gave way while it was being lowered into the grave at Greenmount Cemetery in North Philadelphia.
According to the video that went viral online, there were eight pallbearers, including the deceased's son Benjamin Aviles, who tried to lower the casket. But suddenly the platform collapsed and they all fell into the open grave.
According to Maribelle Rodriguez, Aviles' stepdaughter, the moment was extremely traumatic. Aviles' daughter was pinched under the casket and lost consciousness while slumped in the mud. Other pallbearers also had wounds on their hands, backs, and legs.
Rodriguez said, the wood was very wet and fragile, so he is now asking for an apology and refund from the cemetery and funeral home. He wants justice because the burial was not done properly.
According to the cemetery owner, it was the first time that had happened and he was ashamed of what happened. He called it an accident and expressed his condolences to the family.
