The death of two Grade 8 students in Las Piñas due to stabbing by their schoolmates is worrisome. According to Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, this is a serious warning and a sign that there is a crisis among our youth.
“When violence becomes the way for young people to vent their anger, it means that we are lacking something in raising the new generation. Is there no more discipline and respect?” the senator said. He added that we should worry about what kind of future we are shaping.
Gatchalian encouraged local governments to create programs to teach youth how to be responsible citizens.
According to police, the two victims were stabbed by their classmates near Captain Albert Aguilar National High School on Friday. Col. Sandro Jay Tafalla of the Las Piñas Police said the victims and the suspects had a previous enmity.
