
The accident occurred on the morning of April 13 on Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City. Two people were killed while 16 others were injured after an old jeepney overturned. The incident involved a modern jeepney and a TNVS (Transport Network Vehicle Service) car.
According to CCTV, the traditional jeepney was speeding and crashed into the back of the modern jeep. As a result, the driver lost control and the jeep overturned. According to P/Lt. Allan Erick Bacalzo, the driver said he lost control after the collision.
One of the deceased was Marky Angel Pakig, 18 years old, who was supposed to take an entrance exam on the day of the accident. According to his sister-in-law, Monanessa Basan, "Marky was hardworking and wanted to help the family." The family is demanding that the driver of the jeepney be held accountable for what happened.
The LTO said they will summon the driver and owner of the jeep for investigation. The jeep must be brought to the LTO for inspection and the franchise documents must be submitted. The driver can be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and injuries.
