A bag that was stolen from a Korean tourist while he was taking pictures at a famous temple in Brgy. Busay, Cebu City on Sunday, April 6, has been returned to him.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay, they received a report regarding a bag left inside a CR at a fast food restaurant in Brgy. Lahug. Upon inspection, the victim's bank cards and passport were found, but the money was gone. Despite the loss of the money, the important documents were returned to the Korean tourist.
While the investigation is ongoing, Macatangay said that the theft may have been planned, and police are still determining whether the suspects are not from Cebu. Jhoy Tarcita-Orcullo, who rented the vehicle for the foreigners, also shared that the police sent personnel to Punta Engano, Lapu-Lapu City to recover the bag.
To avoid such incidents, Macatangay advised tourists and locals to be alert and careful with their belongings, especially important items like money and documents.
