A helicopter carrying six people, including a tourist family from Spain and the pilot, crashed into the Hudson River in New York on Thursday, April 10, 2025. All aboard were killed, including three children.
According to Mayor Eric Adams, a water rescue operation was immediately launched, but all victims were declared dead. Two of them were rushed to the hospital but could not be saved. Adams called the incident a "heartbreaking and tragic crash."
It is said that there is a problem with the rotor blades of the helicopter, based on witnesses and videos on social media. The chopper's landing skids were also seen raised above the water as rescue boats surrounded it.
The crashed aircraft was a Bell 206 that departed from the downtown Skyport around 3 PM. It flew around Manhattan but lost control on its way back, and crashed near the Hoboken pier.
According to the New York Police and Fire Department, four were immediately pulled from the water while two others were rushed to the hospital. All victims were ultimately death. The report said that approximately ₱340,000 worth of rescue operations were spent on the incident.
