
A renowned Italian scientist, Alessandro Coatti, was found murdered and dismembered in a suitcase at a popular tourist spot in Colombia. His bodies have been found in various locations since Monday, April 7. According to authorities in Santa Marta, his legs were found in a bag at a different location.
Coatti, 42, entered Colombia as a tourist. The motive for his murder is still unknown. The mayor of Santa Marta has offered a $12,000 (PhP687,126) reward for information leading to the identification of the perpetrators.
Coatti was well-known in Britain's Royal Society of Biology. His colleagues described him as a kind, intelligent, and funny person who left a huge hole in his colleagues. Italian prosecutors are en route to Colombia to help with the investigation.
