The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested two Chinese nationals in an operation in Parañaque for human trafficking.
The suspects were identified as Chan Sai Hoong and Chan Sai Wai, who were arrested on April 2 at a building on Bradco Avenue, Aseana One.
According to the NBI, a woman complained after she was forced to work in the quota system involving money and illegal gambling. According to the victim, she was threatened with harm if she reported it because the suspects knew her real address.
Agents from the NBI Cybercrime Division and Special Task Force immediately conducted a rescue operation, resulting in the arrest of the suspects.
They are now facing charges under Republic Act 11862 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022 for illegal recruitment, coercion, and forcing the victim to do illegal things.
