A video captured an alleged attempt by two men to steal electrical wire from a house in Antipolo, Rizal. According to a concerned citizen, Vincent Villaseñor, he saw one of the men climbing the fence like Spiderman while he was drinking coffee. He thought it was a worker, but he noticed that he wasn't wearing a uniform, so he became suspicious.
The climber was accompanied by another man who was waiting below as if on a lookout. When Villaseñor approached them, they quickly ran away, and it was even captured on CCTV. The incident was immediately reported to the barangay and it turned out that this was not the first time that the suspects had been involved in stealing wires.
The next morning, the Barangay Task Force caught a 14-year-old boy, who was the lookout. According to Carlo Nebasa of Barangay Mayamot, they immediately surrounded the area after receiving a tip from a resident.
According to the barangay, the two are allegedly members of the so-called "Spiderman gang" – a group of thieves who climb poles or fences to steal cables, which they allegedly wrap and sell.
The minor who was caught has been brought to the police and will undergo a medical check-up and documentation before being turned over to the DSWD. The search for his 21-year-old accomplice is ongoing.
