Five people were arrested in a buy-bust operation by the Parañaque City Police on Sunday, April 6, before 10 p.m. on M. Rodriguez Street, Barangay La Huerta. Among those arrested were a 54-year-old man, a 28-year-old woman, a 43-year-old male construction worker, a 40-year-old female fish vendor, and a 51-year-old female shopkeeper.
According to Police Captain Luis Gazzingan, Chief of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU), the information about the 54-year-old suspect's illegal drug dealing came from a confidential informant. Gazzingan said they did not expect the amount of drugs he had hidden.
Confiscated from the suspects were seven sachets of suspected shabu weighing 70 grams, with a street value of P476,320. Also confiscated were drug paraphernalia.
According to Gazzingan, the 54-year-old suspect was recently identified as a "high value individual." He is not included in the police's list of known drug suspects, but he has reportedly started selling in the Barangay La Huerta area.
The PNP reminded the public to immediately report to authorities if they see or know anyone selling illegal drugs. According to Gazzingan, the suspects are making money from drugs because of the hardships of life.
