A woman from Hong Kong died while training for a 100-meter dive in Cebu, Philippines. According to the South China Morning Post, the incident occurred while she was in the middle of technical diving with her coach, who was also from Hong Kong.
The woman, whose surname is Fong, is in her 50s. The dive is high level and requires advanced skills and equipment. The report said she suddenly lost consciousness while swimming.
The Immigration Department of Hong Kong contacted Fong's family to provide assistance. They also immediately contacted the Chinese foreign ministry and the Chinese consulate in Cebu after the incident.
As of now, Fong's body is still in Cebu. Documents and arrangements are still being made for his return to Hong Kong.
According to diving experts, technical diving is not easy. You must first pass the 40-meter and 60-meter courses before training for the 100-meter dive. It’s more risky and needs more expertise and planning.
