Cebuano vlogger Boy Tapang, better known by his real name Ronnie Suan, issued a public apology on his Facebook page after making a kite using P1,000 bills worth P1 million.
Boy Tapang's vlog, which has since been removed from his Facebook page, has received negative comments from netizens. The content was posted by him in the first week of the month.
In his post on April 13, Suan said that people from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) came to talk about the incident.
Boy Tapang explained that he did not intend to make fun of the P1,000 bills because he values them, especially since he comes from a poor family.
"I just posted a kite because it was just for entertainment purposes," Boy Tapang said in his post.
He added that it would have been more acceptable if the material he used to make the kite was plastic. "Now I just want to tell everyone not to play with money. Let's value money, let's value money, because it is very important in our lives," he said, emphasizing the importance of taking care of and appreciating money.
He also requested that those who reposted his vlog remove it. "I apologize to all my viewers, to my supporters, of course especially to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. I'm sorry for what happened, thank you very much for your understanding, may the Philippines live long," he added.
