
After 30 hours, a woman was successfully rescued from the collapsed Sky Villa Condominium in Mandalay, according to an AFP report.
People applauded as Phyu Lay Khaing, 30 was carefully pulled from the rubble on a stretcher. She was immediately embraced by her husband, Ye Aung, who was patiently waiting for news.
"At first, I thought he was gone," said Ye Aung, a businessman and father of two sons – William, 8 and Ethan, 5.
According to the Red Cross, more than 90 people may be trapped under the collapsed building.
A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Northwest of Mandalay on Friday, followed by a 6.7 magnitude aftershock. Many buildings were destroyed, bridges collapsed, and roads cracked across Myanmar, especially in Mandalay, which has a population of more than 1.7 million.
