VP Sara Duterte and Honeylet Avanceña visited the ICC detention facility in The Hague on Thursday, a day before former President Rodrigo Duterte's 80th birthday. However, they did not see or speak to him.
VP Sara arrived at around 3 PM Netherlands time (10 PM in the Philippines) and took some of her father's belongings. After she left, Avanceña arrived, got emotional in front of the supporters, and expressed her gratitude.
According to his lawyer, he is on the guest list for Friday, but there is no certainty yet whether he will be able to enter.
Duterte is facing charges of murder as a crime against humanity in connection with his war on drugs. On March 14, he first appeared in court via videolink.
