A 62-year-old woman died after going under and being run over by a truck on C. Raymundo Avenue, Barangay Maybunga, Pasig City on March 24, 2025, Monday afternoon. According to CCTV footage, the victim crossed while the vehicles were stopped, but suddenly the go signal was given and the truck driver did not notice him.
The police and ambulance immediately responded, but when they checked the victim under the truck, he was dead on the spot. According to the barangay, the victim was not a resident of the area and was on his way to the hospital for a check-up. Based on his ID, he is from Cainta.
Before the accident, the victim had gotten a massage at a spa near the hospital. According to Noel Nique, an employee of the spa, the old man was kind and quiet. “We were very surprised when we heard what happened. He was leaving when a moment later someone shouted outside, ‘someone has been run over!’ When we saw it, it was him,” he said.
The 41-year-old truck driver is now detained at the Pasig City Police Station. He tried to reach a settlement with the victim's family, but they refused and the case continued.
The driver is now facing a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. The victim's family and the truck driver have yet to issue a statement.
