It looks like Nick Frost will be the next Rubeus Hagrid in the upcoming HBO adaptation of the Harry Potter series!
According to sources at Variety, a deal is imminent for the British actor known for his partnership with Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. There has been no official confirmation from HBO or Frost himself, but HBO said, “Given the popularity of the series, there are bound to be a lot of rumors and speculation.”
HBO added, “While we are in pre-production, we will only confirm details once deals are finalized,”—the same statement they gave when rumors surfaced that John Lithgow would be the new Albus Dumbledore (which has now been confirmed).
Meanwhile, Frost has a cryptic post on Instagram, with the caption: "What a bloody lovely day! It's happening, it's actually happening. Stay cool."
Hagrid is a gentle half-giant who became a gamekeeper and Care of Magical Creatures professor at Hogwarts. He was also the one who took Harry Potter in when he was a baby after his parents died, and he was the one who first told Harry that he was a wizard on his 11th birthday.
