Rapper Omar Baliw (Omar Manzano) has filed a copyright infringement case against Apollo Quiboloy after using his song “K&B” at a rally on February 11 without permission.
According to his lawyer, Jeanne Castillo Anarna, publicly used, edited, and reproduced Omar's song without permission, thus punishable by imprisonment the case. The complaint also includes SMNI President Marlon Rosete.
Omar's reaction
He was disappointed to learn about the use of his song in the campaign.
“It was a really bad trip,” he said.
In February, he posted on Facebook:
“‘Not even sitting down, immediately stole. Song.”
What is Copyright Infringement?
According to Republic Act 8293, copyright infringement is punishable by 1-3 years imprisonment and ₱50K – ₱150K fine.
