Apple has filed a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a "wearable electronic device" with two movable screens and cameras. According to the application, the device can be folded to be compact and extended when a larger screen is needed.
There are various sketches in the filing that show some ideas for how the moveable screen would work. There is an illustration with a hinged mechanism, one that shows the screen flipping out from the primary display, and another that shows two screens with adjustable panels.
The company also said that the adaptable screens will expand the usability of its watch: the large screen is better for phone/video calls, gaming, and web browsing on the wrist, while the small form factor is perfect for everyday tasks and outdoor activities.
There are also sketches showing two cameras attached to the foldable screen system for taking photos or answering FaceTime calls on the wrist. The patent also states that there are integrated sensors, lights, and cameras.
