This weekend at AnimeJapan 2025, animation studio MAPPA announced the release date for Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc in Japan. On September 19, fans in Japan will be the first to see the feature-length debut of the hit anime. The announcement includes 12 new character visuals with fresh designs for the entire cast.
According to Crunchyroll, Tatsuya Yoshihara (director of episodes 4 and 10 of season one) will direct the film, while Hiroshi Seko returns as scriptwriter and Kazutaka Sugiyama will be Character Designer. Also in the news release are Souta Yamazaki (aSub Character Designer), Sota Shigetsugu (Action Animation Director), and Riki Matsuura and Kiyotaka Oshiyama with their respective roles.
The series, based on the manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, arrived on Crunchyroll in 2022. In the simple story, Denji, a teenager who befriends the Chainsaw Devil Pochita, finds himself struggling in life due to debt. One day, due to betrayal and death, Denji makes a contract with Pochita and is reborn as Chainsaw Man—a man with the heart of a devil. Starting from the end of season one, the film will focus on Denji's joining the Special Division 4 devil hunters and his encounter with Reze, a café worker who will be the center of the story.
