Carlos Yulo, double gold medalist at the Paris Olympics, and Aira Villegas, bronze medalist, has a new house in Tagaytay City. Another boxing bronze medalist, Nesthy Petecio, also received a new house in the same city where POC President Bambol Tolentino is the mayor. According to Tolentino, “They deserve it, they are not only Olympic heroes, but also national treasures.”
Yulo, who won the men’s floor exercise and vault, was given a two-story house on a 500-square meter lot. Villegas, on the other hand, has his own house on a 200-square meter lot in the same subdivision. Yulo's house and lot—worth P15 million—also became a belated birthday gift for him from POC and Tagaytay City.
Petecio, who received a house in Barangay San Jose as a reward for his silver medal in Tokyo 2020, now has a second house in Tagaytay. He is happy that he will be living here with his family. “My brother and I will live here and we will rent out our first house,” said Petecio, who continues to dream of a gold medal in Los Angeles 2028.
Apart from Yulo, Villegas, and Petecio, Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo, the first Olympic gold medalist of the Philippines, was also given a house in Isabel Heights, Barangay Kaybagal Central. According to Tolentino, they are doing this kind of support to inspire athletes to bring home more medals for the country.
