Maxim Rides and Food Delivery has issued a statement regarding allegations of fraud using their platform.
Maxim assured the public that they are taking immediate steps to address the security issues and prevent future scams.
According to Daria Sato, Maxim's Public Relations Specialist, they have identified and blocked accounts related to fraudulent activities.
They also introduced a new security feature that hides customers' contact numbers. It will only be visible to verified driver-partners who accept the order.
This action was taken after reports spread on social media of how scammers were using Maxim's booking system to deceive customers.
According to victims, scammers pretend to be delivery riders, collect customers' contact details, and encourage them to send advance payment to digital wallets like Maya. After this, the scammer will cancel the order and run away with the money.
Maxim's Reminders for Safety:
- Avoid communicating outside the app in case the rider cancels the order.
- Only use Maxim's official payment channels.
- If possible, select cash payment and make sure the order is correct before paying.
- Report any suspicious activity to their support team immediately.
Due to the escalating issue, city councilors called on the owner of Maxim to implement stricter security protocols.
