Croatia is offering 3,500 jobs in the hotel industry for Filipinos through a government-to-government deal with the Philippines, according to Usec. Patricia Yvonne “Py” Caunan of the Department of Migrant Workers.
Jobs offered include housekeeping, front of the house, restaurant, and other positions in the tourism industry.
The salary ranges from 800 euros (approximately ₱50,000) to 2,500 euros (approximately ₱156,000) depending on the position. Free accommodation will also be provided to those who are accepted to the job.
According to Caunan, Croatian language is not required as long as you are good at English, which is the advantage of Filipinos.
The workers who will be accepted will undergo training upon arrival in Croatia.
“The good thing about this is that it is government to government, no placement fee for our countrymen. No agency, direct to the government. That is what our Croatian partners have chosen,” said Caunan.
There is no age requirement for applicants as Croatians value experience more, but they will also look at physical fitness especially for jobs in hotels and resorts.
The first batch of Filipino workers is expected to arrive in Croatia in the month of June, coinciding with the summer season when tourists flock to the country.
