A Korean restaurant in Quezon City said they will not tolerate any fraud that could tarnish their name after two customers were caught putting ‘wet tissue’ in their side dish and blaming the restaurant.
Leann’s Tea House posted CCTV footage on Saturday, March 15, showing two diners allegedly putting a ‘wet tissue’ in their radish side dish and trying to blame it on one of the staff.
At the 0:16-mark of the video, a man is seen putting something on a plate.
“Well, oh,” can be heard in the background as the footage is reviewed.
“He did something,” said another.
“Back? Yes,” added another person.
“Then the girl,” one of the restaurant staff commented.
It was also noticed in the footage that the diners waited for their staff Arian to leave before they placed the dish on their plates.
Eventually, Arian took the plate.
“We caught on CCTV two individuals who put wet tissue in our radish side dish and are trying to blame our restaurant, which we are very concerned about,” the restaurant management said in their Facebook post.
They added that customers allegedly threatened them with complaints to the Department of Health (DOH) if they were not given a “solution.”
"When they saw that we were reviewing the CCTV footage, they immediately made a scene and quickly left, saying they were going somewhere," according to the restaurant.
“This kind of behavior is not only false but also harmful to our team and our commitment to serving quality, safe, and delicious Korean food. We will not tolerate any fraud that could tarnish our name,” they added.
The restaurant also encouraged their customers and fellow business owners to be critical and cautious.
“If you have any concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to our staff—we are always ready to help,” Leann’s Tea House says.
