A lawmaker has offered a P100,000 reward for information regarding the death of a 23-year-old Slovak tourist in Boracay.
In a statement on Tuesday, Aklan Second District Rep. Teodorico Haresco Jr. said he offered a P100K reward for anyone with information that could help identify who was behind the killing of Michaela Mickova.
According to Haresco, he met with local law enforcement officials this weekend for updates on the investigation.
Malay police are currently holding two persons of interest, while nine witnesses have given their statements to authorities.
"We need to act immediately and with determination to resolve this and restore public trust. We need to show that Boracay is safe for tourists," said Haresco.
He added, "We will do everything we can with local officials in Boracay, Malay, and national agencies to prevent such incidents in the future."
According to the Western Visayas police, the victim was found inside an abandoned chapel two days after he was reported missing.
Police learned that the victim may have suffered sexual abuse and suffered severe blunt force trauma to the head.
