In his Power On newsletter, Gurman said that Apple planned to make this their first iPhone without any ports. However, Apple initially dropped this idea to avoid issues with EU regulations.

Since Apple still wants to release a thinner iPhone in the future, this idea has resurfaced. Apple is expected to release four new iPhones this year, including the iPhone 17 Air which is said to be 2mm thinner than other models.
Recently, leaker Sonny Dickson shared some images of iPhone 17 dummies, showing how thin the iPhone 17 Air could possibly look.
As of now, there is no confirmation from Apple about this.
