An endangered leopard cat or Tamaral was spotted inside a hotel in Barangay San Jose, Puerto Princesa, Palawan on March 13.
According to Mr. Ruel Sangabriel, a hotel staff member, he thought it was an ordinary cat but was shocked when he noticed that it was a leopard cat.
Despite the fears of his colleagues, Sangabriel was more concerned about the animal's safety. He knew that it should not be harmed or kept as a pet, so he immediately brought it to the PCSDS office to ensure its safety.
Meanwhile, many netizens were happy and said that the animal was "Adorable. Some also reminded that it should not be taken outside Palawan because it is an endemic species.
According to PCSD Resolution 23-967, the leopard cat is considered an endangered species.
