A nightclub in North Macedonia caught fire early Sunday morning, with about 1,500 people inside. Officials say 59 people have died and more than 100 have been injured.

According to a Reuters report, the fire started in the club's ceiling and roof, which spread quickly.
According to Interior Minister Toshkovski, the fire broke out at around 2:35 AM during a live band performance inside. They used fireworks which accidentally set the ceiling on fire.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski posted on social media that this was a sad dayfor their country, especially for the bereaved families of the victims.
Toshkovski initially announced that one person had been arrested, but did not say who it was or why they were being held. Authorities later announced that four arrest warrants had been issued and raised the death toll from 51 to 59.
The search and rescue operation is still ongoing, as many families gather outside hospitals, hoping to get information about their missing loved ones.
